Ginkgo Biloba Autumn GoldFrom the Ginko Biloba Information Pages at GincoBiloba.com |
'Autumn Gold' is a male cultivar of the Gikgo Biloba tree. It's one of the most popular cultivars in the United States mainly because it can grow in a city enviroment in low quality soil. It's also virtually pest free, it's resistant to storm damage and it casts a dense shade which is great if you want shielding from the sun.
Being a male tree it will not have any fruits which is great in a city or garden setting as the fruits of the female ginkgo are know for their bad smell.
Height: 25 to 50 feet
Spread: 25 to 35 feet

The Autumn Gold is also resistant to breakage, needs some pruning to get a good upright form and is interesting in many settings due to its exotic form both in summer with interesting leaves, in fall with a golden yellow foilage and in winter with the excentric form.
